Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is located in Moscow and is one of the most representative churches of the Russian Orthodox Church. The church was originally built by Tsar Alexander I to commemorate Russia’s great victory over Napoleon in 1812. However, in 1931, the church was demolished by the Soviet government and was not rebuilt until the 1990s. In terms of architectural style, the cathedral combines the Byzantine style with the traditional Russian architectural features. Its majestic appearance and solemn momentum make it one of the landmarks of Moscow. This Golden Guardian Angel Relief is located above the main entrance of the church and is themed on guardian angels.
In the relief, two large angels spread their huge wings, with solemn and loving expressions, holding Russian banners with “The Lord is with us”, conveying prayers and admiration for divine power. The little angel on the left holds a scroll, symbolizing wisdom and faith. The details of the Golden Guardian Angel Relief are extremely delicate, and the angel’s folds, wing textures and facial expressions are lifelike. The bronze material gives the sculpture a heavy feeling, which contrasts sharply with the white stone of the church. Welcome to contact us for more details.
