1. Introduction of The Angel Face Relief
Nanni di Banco (c. 1375-1421) was a famous sculptor in the early Italian Renaissance, known for his combination of Gothic style and Renaissance art style. Nanni was a member of the Florentine Guild of Fine Arts. His works not only focus on the depiction of details, but also show the true emotions of human nature, marking the transformation of art from the religious stereotypes of the Middle Ages to humanization. His sculptures are mostly used in religious places. Through the realistic depiction of the human body and the creation of a sacred atmosphere, his works are full of spirituality and beauty. One of his representative works is the “Assumption of the Virgin” relief above the Porta Mandorla door of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
