Born in France and raised in Italy, Catano is an immigrant artist whose personal experiences play an important role in his creations. Through sculptures, Catano expresses the fluidity of human existence, loneliness, and identity, especially the psychological state of immigration and travel. He often shows the “missing” of the characters’ bodies in his works, symbolizing the loss and rupture of people in mobility and loneliness. This Statue the Immigrant Void shows the image of a female traveler, wearing a simple shirt and carrying a travel bag.
The biggest feature of the Statue the Immigrant Void is that the body parts of the characters are missing, especially the upper body from the chest to the abdomen is completely missing. The missing parts of the Bruno Catalano Sculpture by the Sea make the characters look incomplete, but they also trigger deep thinking among the audience, symbolizing the part of the self or inner loneliness lost during the journey. When placed in a public space, this missing design contrasts with the surrounding environment, as if reminding the audience that travel is not only about physical movement, but also about the exploration of the soul and the pursuit of self-identity. Arturban statue can customize various replica statues. Welcome to contact us for more details.
