The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) is the largest lizard in the world and is only found on Komodo Island, Rinca Island, Flores Island and surrounding islands in Indonesia. They belong to the Varanidae family and are top predators that occupy an important position in the food chain. Known for their ambush hunting, strong limbs, sharp teeth and poisonous saliva, the Komodo dragon can hunt deer, wild boars and even buffalo.
