1. Introduction of Statue of Copernicus

Nicolaus Copernicus was a famous Polish astronomer in the 16th century, and is remembered for his heliocentric theory. He overturned the long-standing geocentric theory and proposed the theory that the sun is the center of the universe, and the earth and other planets revolve around the sun. This revolutionary view changed human understanding of the structure of the universe and became an important milestone in the history of astronomy. Copernicus’s book “On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres” laid the foundation for modern astronomy and paved the way for the work of later scientists such as Galileo and Kepler. The Statue of Copernicus in the picture is located in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, and was created by the famous sculptor Bernardo Marek.

In the sculpture, Copernicus sits on a pedestal, holding a celestial globe in his left hand and a measuring tool in his right hand, showing his rigorous and contemplative posture as an astronomer. His eyes are firm, as if he is pondering the mysteries of the celestial bodies. Copernicus is dressed in an elegant robe with vivid details of the folds, which makes him look solemn and wise. The celestial globe symbolizes his contribution to astronomy, while the measuring tool symbolizes the rigorous spirit of scientific exploration. The overall shape of the Statue of Copernicus is solemn and dignified, full of respect for the wisdom and contributions of scientists.
